Gothaforce Fokker D VII Leusch/Buechner

Hi friends,

I've been a modeller for decades now and have experienced quantum leaps in kits from time to time, at least in my personal perception. In the beginning for me was Monogram with great details and cockpits, then Trimaster with PE's, then Airfix with stressed skin, WNW and CSM with unprecedented accuracy of fit and detail, just to name a few.
And now another monolith (like in the film 2001 Space Odyssey) has appeared: Fokker D VII from the new company Gothaforce . I received the kit today.
The finesse of the packaging alone is a delight, the filigree 3D-printed parts are packaged in break-proof packaging and clearly arranged.  The wealth of detail and finesse of the individual parts is impressive. Some of the wings, fuselage and control surfaces are so thin that you can almost see through them. Everything is designed so that assembly is quick and uncomplicated. The booklet is also cleverly designed with lots of good tips.
Of course, removing the parts from the sprues is time-consuming, but then there is no need to clean up as with plastic kits.
The photos only show a few details.
In any case, I am very enthusiastic and can say that I have not yet had a better kit in my hands.
Now I'm really looking forward to building it.

The kit makes an outstanding impression both aesthetically and technically. The break-proof packaging gives it a premium feel. We hope the assembly will be just as smooth. The instruction manual is also well thought out ? it's clear that it was created by modellers, for modellers.

Great news Joerg!  I pre-ordered my kit back in October. I chose the Hans Jungwirth version, and it will be one of the last pre-order versions shipped. This is not a problem for me, as I can only build during the winter months. Nonetheless, I have been very excited to see a kit review of a production sample. Did you get the resin UV kit as well?

Hi Rich,
I have to agree.
I think it's still relatively early days for fully 3D printed kits and like AI, it seems to have taken on a life of its own.
Personally I'm still unsure about the durability of resin printed models.
Having built several I've found in general:
Parts can be brittle and easily broken, even when removing them from their support trees.
Time will tell if the material degrades over time or warps etc, which can occur with cast resin models.
Complicated parts, such as engines, can be printed as complete assemblies, making preparation and painting more difficult.
Will that makes us more assembler/painters rather than traditional model makers?
Only CA adhesive can be used for assembly, which is not everyone's cup of tea.
However impressive the printed kits are, at three times the cost of a similar Copper State Model is a lot to pay - is it worth the cost?

That said this and other 3D printed models, such as those from Aviattic and Lukgraph are highly detailed and well presented,
