Junkers D.1, 5185/18 Baender (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: April 24, 2025, 06:45:14 AM »
The red variant of the famous Baender, usually believed to be black with red-white band. But I preferred to follow the track of the inverted option slightly suggested by the Wingnut Wings instructions booklet. This plane was apparently used by MFJG in the last weeks of the war and then captured in Hombeek by the Allies - when photographed it was in a quite demolished state. My vision is rather presenting it prior to its demise...

The additions include - the carved Axial propeller (Kotebi veneers), timing gear for Mercedes engine (Taurus resin) and a couple of cables for electric, fuel and control installations (barely visible after the cowlings were attached).

The colors are breathtaking. Your models are always incredibly precise, clean and accurate. Congratulations.

A lovely little build, Prze - it looks very interesting with that scheme. I have to say your propeller certainly looks fantastic, too.
Cheers,
Gary

A lovely job on what has turned out to be quite a quick build. The finished model looks fantastic, you've definitely convinced me to do the same scheme! I really like the overall finish on the paint and decals, you haven't been thrown by the corrugated surfaces at all.

Wonderful as ever, Prez -

This was a lovely kit from WNW - I also avoided the black fuselage when did mine but opted for red/brown instead.

Another mini-masterpiece. Your builds are invariably informative and the results always first class.

That has set the bar higher for Junkers D1 builds.

Very nice. I really like your choice of colors.

Many thanks, everyone, for your kind comments. I surely did not expect such welcome to so unusual model.
