Hi everyone - a long time between drinks here thanks to work and other things... so again the mojo has slowed down... but got a couple of hours at the bench over the weekend and got some paint onto her. I decided on the North Vietnamese Air Force overall dark green with brown splotches scheme. I think she looks suitably sinister in dark green...
Still not very good at painting splotches... really must get myself an airbrush properly suited to fine work... I'm still using the same Paasche VL that I bought back in the year 2000... but in any case, it will do.
Next is onto decals, then onto the fun stuff - weathering!
Cheers for looking,
BC

Glad you were able to make progress on the Mig Brad. The blotches look awesome. The VL is a good old brush, IMHO.

So, getting closer to the finish line with this beastie. Decals are on; I used the Airfix kit decals for the national markings as the Xtradecal markings were out of register. The aircraft number came from the Xtradecals sheet - these are very thin and I had some trouble with them wrinkling. Oh well. I then also applied some weathering with oils and prismacolour pencil for the paint chipping.
Next, onto assembly of the gear, speed brakes, and final bits and bobs...
Cheers for looking!

Even though you let down my kind suggestion about the colour scheme, I agree, your choice is fine. Almost the best one ;-)
Great work all around, keeping fingers crossed for your mojo!

Finally, after four months or so, she be done...! So much for it being a quick 'mojo' build, haha! In any case, my first completion in over a year. Happy to at least finally have something new to add to the cabinet!
Other than those challenges, the rest of the kit is quite nice. Glad to finally have finished something!
Thanks for looking!
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement along the way folks!
Cheers,

A lovely job all round, excellent paint job and very nice weathering. Now turn that new-found mojo to a WWI subject. I hear there's a Group Build going on.......

Bravo Brad! As much as I love New Airfix I know from experience there can be challenges that are hard to excuse given the technology and design ability at play, and I was sorry to see the issues you had to overcome with this. But overcome you did, and what a gorgeous result!

The timing is awfully coincidental, don't you think?

Thanks chaps for the further kind words on this one! I am most humbled as always.
I must say that I was also extremely chuffed and surprised to see my little MiG take out Gold in its class during last weekend's Queensland State Model Championships - especially given how close this one ended up from being thrown out a window!
Thanks again all!
Cheers,
