Impressive! How much payload could a machine like this carry? More than the German Gotha?
/Fredrik

Hi Fredrik!

Yes, second only to Staaken types, regarding the actual operational aircraft during ww1. Most sources give the max. bomb load as 1400 kg. That must be based on what they could manage during the night attacks, when they could fly slower and lower than in daytime operations.

Cheers, Skyhook

Thanks for the bomb capacity comparison.
It's a kind of crazy plane, but a very fine model.

I should have asked this earlier - what's the scale of this monster?
It's hard to tell because of it's size.

Wonderful job on the rigging. I do wish that railing was much wider...
Thanks,

Haha!  :). Thanks, I only photograph it on calm days...  btw, Enathan, it is in 1/72. My preferred scale, it would be really huge in 1/48 :)?and would not fit to the railing!

It's looking seriously good now.

This is some model and skill in creating in the Woodman style.
Something I could never do myself.
Keep it coming,

Yes Skyhook, it looks big enough in 1/72  :) It's my preferred scale too.
This is great modelling, you are a brave man...

Thanks for the nice comments, again! :)

Some progress since the last time; the tail section is ready, the propellers are in place (carved from wood). Next, armament and the bombs, a seat for the observer and the longer wires ( drift wires, control wires for tail surfaces) to be done

Cheers, Skyhook

Thanks!
Yes it did. Slowly and steadily. Flew first in 1917 and was in production in 1918. Flew daytime missions at first, but was quickly relegated to night bombing. This is sadly the only clip of it flying, that I know of.
