CSM Nieuport XI: Paul Tarascon 'Zigomar'
« on: February 26, 2025, 02:13:34 AM »
Apologies if you've seen this before on FB, some of you may not, so.......
Very easy build. Added extras used were the resin carburetor pipes, map board, engine, mirror, clock and seat back.
MRP bleached linen with some yellow added for main doped linen. Kit decals. Gaspatch turnbuckles and Model Kasten rigging.
Figure from CSM is a 3D print painted in oils

A really great piece of work. You have found a good colour tone for the fuselage and wings with subtle shading and weathering. And the pilot and his dog are excellently painted. Congratulations on this work of art!

Best regards
Joerg

Glad you like it.......difficult to get the colour right as there's so many descriptions.I settled on a pale creme brulee!

Very nice, very subtle, pure essence of Nieuport... Thanks for sharing.

wonderful job .
perso I would have done the cream color lighters, almost wite, to make clearly diference with fabric apparence, but it is clearly at the taste of each one. the only information we have about this dope, except the W&B pictures is the Lafayette pilot Chapman sentence: "My plane is cream color"...
The figure is really awsome, very impresive...

Barbusse.
"Une montagne en Allemagne ne peut pas offenser une montagne en France. Ou une rivière ou une forêt ou un champ de blé."

Lovely work on this one David. As I've said elsewhere, I think you've handled the fabric surfaces really well, some subtle variations and emphasis of the rib tapes but nothing over the top.

perso I would have done the cream color lighters, almost wite, to make clearly diference with fabric apparence, but it is clearly at the taste of each one.
Personally I think this colour is pretty good when looking at the photos. It's a light cream/off white and that fits nicely with Chapman's description. But as you say, it's down to personal choice.

I also liked Chapman's statement that when painted in the cream colour, his aircraft got dirty and needed to be washed daily. Some evidence that these aircraft were looked after and not left to get filthy.....

Truly wonderful. It has also convinced me to include a dog in a future build.

The subtle tones on this model are wonderful. The figure and dog are a real bonus.
