Aviattic Announcement
« on: February 05, 2025, 09:58:33 AM »
I got a notice through Patreon today that Richard at Aviattic, aside from the upcoming 1/72nd scale Sopwith Pup, is planning a 1/72nd scale Sopwith Triplane!

Here's the text of his announcement:

"Sorry to be a tease but had to share these latest renders of the 1/72 Sopwith Triplane joining its cousin, the Pup, in the new 1/72 kit line-up.                  Sometimes 3d renders and the printed reality do not match but - as you have seen with the printed Pup parts - I am confident these kits, particularly in this scale, will better anything that has gone before!

I am hoping to have four 1/72 subjects ready for release over the next few months, continuing with batches of four as we cover all those subjects in the classic Airfix and Revell ranges of our childhoods.                                                                     If I still have all my faculties (and any friends left) after that the range will be expanded to cover kits we wish had joined those classic ranges..

Call me self-indulgent but this whole concept means a lot to me, as it re-visits my youth, treasured memories of my parents encouragement and generosity as we went to airshows in the 1960's and early 70's - introducing me to early aviation and the kits available at the time feeding my insatiable appetite for the subject. For me it is an homage to the hobby, which I truly hope that Aviattic has done something to promote and grow.

Tailored decal design, like the Pup, is led by creating accurate templates for the WNW 1/32 kits and then assessing any alterations as they get effectively 'shrunk' to the appropriate scale, tested again and refined. This can only be done when the parts are confirmed as 'done'.  A long, repetitive and precise process which I am not willing to compromise on...much as it drives some friends involved a bit nuts!..

For the creation of these decal sets I am at the mercy of my volunteer colleagues work schedules and energies, so please be patient regarding further details - which will be shared with you first here, as always, on the Patreon.                                                                                                                                    You will have seen me plead for anyone with the required graphic programme skills to get on board, so please spread the word.                                                    Life's pressures and demands take their toll on us all and the team is forever changing and evolving for numerous reasons..

For 1/32 customers you heard that here first - yes, Pup and Triplane tailored markings decal sets will be released soon too!

And, of course, the Roden 1/32 upgrade projects are progressing nicely, continually evolving as I find yet more improvements to introduce - bearing in mind the 'affordable' price-point I am trying to reach with this range. Roden in Ukraine are very happy to be involved and the collaboration helps them, in a small way, to stay afloat under terrible conditions which I hope will be relieved soon."

Good news all around IMHO.

That's brilliant to get confirmed (I'd heard whisperings of a Pup and Triplane that might be appearing)

I'll certainly have a couple of each and will try and sort out a Patreon as soon as I'm able

A 1/72 Pup is good news, and so will the other old Aifix and Revell subjects be.
It will be great to have new high quality versions of the Roland C.II, Morane N etc.!

I?m also particularly happy to see upcoming additions to the Roden 1/32 line of kits.  I?d love to see some upgrades and decals for the SPAD XIII and Albatros D III.
