AGO CIV, Kovozavody Prostejov, 1/72

An interesting aircraft from KP.  the kit goes together well without too many issues - apart from the 2 piece top wing which needed some adjustment to the struts to get it to sit straight.  The undercarriage is a bit flimsy as well.  This one is shown in the later configeration (they changed the outer struts form two straight strusts to the N shape and added a fin to the rudder).

AGO's CIV was a fast and well armed reconnaisance plane, but was unfortunately not popular because it proved to be unstable in flight!  Most of the pictures available (including the only one of this aircraft) show them crashed on either takeoff or landing!  They also didn't build many (only about 100) possibly because of the complexity of the wing design.

Nice job on a relatively unknown aircraft.  The lack of available research material made this one more difficult than it should be.

In fact my boxing is currently sitting on the short list shelf as we speak . . . .

Interesting that the taper wing that was experimented on Sopwith's Camel wasn't pursued because of the complexity of the build for very little performance difference (Would make a nice version though)

Not seen one of these before - you have produced a good model of the C IV. I do like to see these lesser known types - always interesting and an opportunity to learn more.

Are there any other sources that report the lack of in-flight stability of the AGO? German Idflieg prescriptions ordered that every crash had to be documented by photographs. So the existence of these crash pics alone are no evidence for any problems with the airframe itself.

Sources I found on the internet say that the crews didn?t like them because of the instability.  I think they were surprised because previous AGO aircraft had a good reputation.  Shame because I think it?s a very good looking plane.

A very good model of an aircraft that I don't really like, the tapered wings seem to belong to a different era...
The markings suggest this is the latest issue of the KP kit from just a few weeks ago. Well done Will.
