Zeppelin Q Class 1/700 from the David Wilson Memorial GB.

Here it is, I have taken it as far as I can and dare not try to polish it up any more. Each time I do something to this I break something else, the PE is fragile and doesn't like me.

Thanks RAGIII, PrzomoL and Nigel. I didn't expect much response because I basically gave up on it once I had it in a displayable state. It was a wise thing to do because in the finishing up stage I knocked of and lost one of the guns from the top, bent the PE leading to one of the propshafts and accidentally struck the rear gondola with a paintbrush dislodging the whole thing (but luckily still staying in place) and knocking of a radiator. Once those items were repaired and the gun re made from wire I could see this thing getting broken beyond repair. I think you are right Nigel about Zeppelins being interesting subjects. I put the pictures on Imgur to post on here and I got around three times as many comments on it. Such interest and on a site which is not in any way WW1 related has proven to me it would be worth doing at least one more but next time it will be in a larger scale so I don't have to deal with tiny, fiddly and fragile details.

I too like your airship models because we see airships so infrequently. I understand your hesitation in doing any more with this: some of those parts really are tiny and easy to lose. Bravo for tackling such a subject - and for completing it.

Not the easiest of builds even before it started fighting back I admire your patience with all that etched brass. I always thought a little vignette of one of the 'spotting' gondola's would be a great subject and wouldn't be too complex in 1/35 with a couple of well wrapped figures . . . (hmmm now there's an idea)

Paul - I have seen somewhere a 3d printed kit of a gondola but cannot remember what scale, where or what manufacturer. If I were to do it in that scale I would be more inclined to build the gun emplacement on the top or, in a smaller scale, the gun emplacement of LZ54 (the one involved in the King Stephen Incident) with the whole crew huddled in and behind it.
Nigel - 1/72 would probably be the easiest scale to scratch build one + figures would be easier to do but at that scale a N-P class Zeppelin would be about seven and a half ft, a Q class or E class Schutte Lanz would be 8ft and a R - V class 9ft. I think 1/144 like the Hippo kit would be more practical but still very impressive.

I think (but someone may correct me on this) there were 3 Zeppelins with this so called spotted cow camo and another similar scheme in just black and yellow on a P class that looked like some sort of giant alien wasp. There are different interpretations of the spotted cow camo, like many subjects in WW1 colours are disputed, in my opinion the colours were black, yellow and yellow ochre. I have seen the darker areas portrayed as green or brown or a combination of all colours mentioned. I picked just black for the darker colours because I do believe they were more likely to have all been just black even though green and brown would have looked better.
