Hi, today I would like to present my Sopwith Triplane built up from the relatively basic KP kit. I rigged this model using Uschi "superfine" elastic thread. Detail was a little soft, especially on the Vickers gun and prop, so these parts were replaced with their equivalents from an Eduard kit. The wings and interplane struts took a few attempts at alignment, cutting and realignment and I'm satisfied with the final outcome. I used primarily Vallejo acrylics for brush painting. Weathering completed with tiny bits of burnt umber and black oil paints.
I quote the following history brief from internetmodeler.com:
"Arriving at 8(N) on 28 February 1917 and originally named JOAN, BINKY III was photographed on its back after being overturned on landing by FSL J. A. M. Allen on 15 March 1917. F/Cdr P. A. Johnstone sent a red and green Albatros down OOC on 3 May 1917. On 10 August, FSL E. D. Crundall was forced to land after being hit by ground fire and N5449 was then shelled for eight hours. After being repaired, N5449 went to 1(N) where it was flown by FSL Spence during which he scored two victories."
A relatively standard looking Tripe with an outstanding service record.
Thank you,
Nick.

Nice to see the 'original' tripe in gentleman's scale Nick.
I understand there are a few issues with the struts, but you've made a nice job getting over them

You've done a grand job on this KP Sopwith Triplane.
Having built this one myself I can share your grief with the struts .......

I thought at first that this was the WNW kit! You have made a first class model in the One True Scale. Excellent finish and rigging.

I concur with all of the above - I also admit not completing my attempt at this kit, ?challenging? is an understatement!
