Next Aero Rarities Release
« on: September 29, 2024, 07:06:32 AM »
Hi all,

Thought I'd share some pix of our soon-to-be-released Scarff Ring, which is 3D-printed in 1/32, 1/48, and 1/72.  The 1/32nd-scale version even has visible weld beads on the joined sections.  No assembly required.  These will be sold as pairs; one modeled with U-bar raised and the other in stowed position.

Should be ready to go by the end of October.
Thanks for looking!

Stunning. Looking forward to seeing what else you do.....

Out of interest, have you done any size comparisons with the equivalent WNW and Roden parts? I'm hoping these are a direct replacement for those in 1/32.

You can write me up for 1 set in 1/32.

They look magnificent Paul!

Cheers,
Willem

Thanks for the kind words.  All of our designs are based on period illustrations when possible and also academic references.  Our Scarff design in particular originates from a factory drawing dating to 1918.  Our print incorporates details distinguishable down to .05mm, and the diameter of our ring in 1/32 is 25.05mm.  We've not yet done any size comparisons to other manufacturers' products, but because we use parametic-driven 3D designs, we anticipate we can easily resize the diameter of our ring to fit any kit upon request.  For example, looking online at WNW's 1/32 Brisfit (sprue A, part 30) or their R.E.8 (sprue B, part 17), one would just need to measure those diameters to confirm a match.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks. I have two WNW wings kits and a Roden Strutter in the stash that could use these, I will check the dimensions of them all.

I measured the Scarff rings on the WNW DH9 and RE8, and the Roden Strutter, and all are close to 26mm (I can't get really precise measurements). So the Scarff rings should fit just fine on those.

Same here.
Dimensions on the Digmayer plans and the factory drawings for the Handley Page V/1500 are an exact match.

Hi again everyone.  Just thought I'd share images of our first test painting of our Scarff in 1/32.  Everything was applied while still attached to the support.  We're also experimenting with the elastic cordage.

Wow, this is getting better and bettrt Paul and Eric!

I would really like to see these mounted on my HP V/1500. This is giving me a real boost to get on with it.

:D

Very nice - just in time for the Big Ack build . . .
(Although I do have a Miniworld one in the box ready and waiting so maybe a Harry Tate to follow so I can use one of these) ;)

These look stunning. May I ask what resolution/ type of resin printer are you using ?
