Home stretch.

I tried cutting out the arrow from white decal but that didn't work. I made the arrow too thick and I had to make my own white decal by painting some clear and the paint was too thick.

Fortunately, the Aero Master sheet had Altemeiers aircraft with plenty of white stripes. This worked much better.

I know I should change the "7" to a "4" but that's not happening.

Dave would have had the Rose Part resin guns so I used those. An Aero Club white metal Oberursel would have been nice but I used the kit engine.

Almost there. Some touch-up, some rigging and should be done today.

Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

That's looking fabulous. The markings have worked out nicely and those guns look very good. Nearly there......

Great fun. I wanted to build this as Dave would have back in the olden days.

Pretty straight forward with only belts, a new prop and resin guns. I reshaped the wing tips, after market decals for the markings and the Lozenge.

I'm thankful I was able to contribute to this GB in Dave's honor. I will post more over in the "completed" section later on.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

A great build, and a great tribute. Given how old the kit is, the end result doesn't look too bad compared to more modern offerings.

Lovely.  ;D
Sometimes good to remind ourselves how much fun can be had with these simple kits.

That's a great piece of work on that kit.

Brilliant and so quick! I don’t know how some members finish projects to incredibly high standards at such speed… my builds are snail like even with lots of spare time to devote to them….

Cheers

Thanks All,
I know some scoff at me waisting my time on these when better examples are out there but for me, I'm not a shake the box kinda guy.
We started building models when there was no after-market parts or decals save for some Aero Club engines and guns. I enjoyed the heck out of building something not available in a box and I guess those olde habits are hard to leave behind, besides, I just can't resist.
I will do the Glencoe N28, the Halberstadt CL.II, the 504 and the Gotha GV. I won't bother with the Bristol Fighter, the DH10, the EIII or the SPAD XIII. Even I have have my limits.

I do have a nifty growing stash of contemporary kits I'm looking forward to building. These are in addition to what's down in the stash already.

I guess it's now being able to build these old kits to the level I wanted to back then, but could not achieve 50 or so years ago.
