A-4M Skyhawk 1/48 Magic Factory
« on: August 19, 2024, 10:52:20 PM »
My latest project after the group build. I was very excited to start this kit, so much so I even ordered it directly from China  ;D
The kit seems just to hit the EU stores around now. Think it took me about 6 weeks from start to finish.

It's a very nice kit! Great engineering in some places, but also some questionable things in others. Details are very nice and you can open almost all panels, but if you want them closed... well not all fit that great. Nose and spine required some work too. However if you want a newer A-4 kit - there's not much out there besides the Hasegawa and maybe the Hobbyboss?

I will be starting Vietnam group build next week, so maybe ill pick up a shelved kit in the meantime.

Congratulations on another beautiful job, Ben. I have a friend who flew the A-4 for the Marines, he said it was his favorite aircraft ever... "you just sort of strapped it on!"

Love your paintwork, and those progress shots particularly.

Outstandingly good model with a superb finish.

Just looking at all of that ordnance it is amazing that the subject of my current project was just about capable of lifting a pilot and passenger..... and that was approximately 65 years before this flew!

Stephen.

Thank you very much Dutch - I bet your friend could tell some amazing stories!
I have a buddy working near a airport in Germany. Apparently he still sees some A-4's on the flight radar. They should be surprising loud  ;D

Thank you very much Stephen! Im always amazed how fast the development of planes moved. The first 50 years were crazy!

I usually do not like and ignore models of jet a/c. But there are few exceptions, Hawk being one of them. And you made it shine even more, just lovely!
