Tamiya 1:32 Scale Spitfire Mk. XVI 443 Squadron RCAF
« on: August 15, 2024, 12:47:07 AM »
This aircraft served with 443 (Hornet) Squadron RCAF in the Fighter Bomber role in the closing months of the Second World War and then served  with the Second Tactical Air Force Occupation Forces in Germany until the Squadron returned to Canada and was disbanded in March of 1946. The model represents the aircraft as it was based at Utersen, Germany, in August of 1945.
Like all of their 1:32 WWII Series Tamiya have produced a magnificent product with this model, it is a true joy to build! The model has been completed with the addition of numerous after market additions, particularly in the "Full Build" cockpit and markings from Kagero Publications.

Lance

Beautiful work Lance! The Mk.XVI I want to build is a high-back, but seeing this reinforces how much I want to build a big Tamiya Spit. Well done!

Nigel, Zac,
Thank You both for your comments. Zac, you owe it to yourself to build at least one of the Tamiya Spits, lovely kits both! I have the Laminar Flow Designs 3D conversion set for the Mark XIV Fighter Recce High back Version from the Mark IX Kit and will be doing that sometime in the coming year. I've come to the happy conclusion that I'll never have enough Spitfires, fortunately the WWI passion should keep that factor at a reasonable level! :o

Lovely Spitfire Lance! Interesting markings and beautifully painted! I am working on a 1/32nd Mk.IIa that I will hopefully finish and post soon!

Gorgeous, Lance. The Spitfire was one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built, pure and simple (even with the docked wings!).

Thanks for looking and commenting Guys, right at the top of my list of beautiful flying machines for sure! Rick, I'll be looking forward to following your Mark IIa Build, I've had that Revell Kit and a shopping bag full of After Market goodies for it in my Stash Pile for some time and hope to get to it some day ....... so much to do, so little time!
Cheers,
Lance

The only thing stopping me is the money! I received the Mossie as a Christmas present shortly after it was released and, man oh man, what a joy to build! I'm keen on the Mustang too (I know a guy with a Mk.IX and a P-51D and would like to build them).

You've done a very nice job on this one, Lance - it looks splendid. And Tamiya's 1/32 models are sure a pleasure for modellers to enjoy as you say. Your model reminds me of a trip to the War Museum in Ottawa when I was 14 years old, and they had a similar looking one with squadron code DN-T on the side. I spent as long as I could around that exhibit, and had my picture taken sitting on the wing root!
Cheers,
Gary
