Hello, today I will post my first completed model on this forum! The 1/72 Eduard Fokker D.VII kit is a wonderful experience to build and features a ton of rib tape decals. It is a little repetitive to deal with but the cumulative effect speaks for itself. I've always loved the personal artwork featured on this aircraft and I hope you like my model!

My simple phone camera had some difficulty capturing the true colors of the wings, they are far less blue in reality. The picture in which I used flash to show the cockpit interior is most color-accurate.

Thank you - Nick.

Excellent model to kick off your account with, Nick. Very impressive in 1/72, especially the figure painting. Appropriate too - he looks like he climbed off the fuselage graphics!
Great stuff.

Indeed very nicely done. I have never seen Sieben Schwabians in 72nd scale. Where have you found the decals?

Lovely work for your first entry, Nick -

I always like this particular DVII scheme too.

That is a superb model in the One True Scale - indeed it looks much larger. I too am interested as to where you got the personal markings.

Stephen.

Great work Nick! I've always had a soft spot for this scheme and you've executed it very well :)

What's the next project for you?

For the decals - I know that the PD decals set contains this scheme in 1/72; that is where I got mine from when I built my version using the Roden kit (you can find pictures in my link below).

Cheers

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind comments and review of the model. Regarding the decals for Bäder's machine, they are included in the 2022 Eduard ProfiPack Fokker D.VII (OAW) kit, number 70131. And they really work well, just one application of MicroSol had them laying down flat with no silvering. :)

I am slowly working through the WNW Rumpler C.IV, my first 1/32. I enjoy the greater detail of the big scale, and the encyclopedic detail of the instructional booklet, but not sure if I can ever abandon 1/72 entirely. I'm sure like many other modelers, I'm indecisive about this! Especially after browsing the archive of world class models on this forum.

You have created an impressive model, congratulations!
I am working on the exact same kit and chose the exact same painting scheme. I'll show it here when it's done.
One question: this kit already has the new type of Edu decals, from which you can peel off the thick protective layer, so it will be ultrathin. Did you peel it off?

Hi Nick,
Great work imho. I like this painting scheme a lot, and I hope to build one of those by myself.

Paul

R.V.W. and P.P. - Thanks guys! Richard - If these are the new Eduard peeling decals, I can't tell! They seemed very thin and somewhat elastic to begin with, so I think they are the standard sort.
