It will be interesting to see how Encore did the Fuselage Lozenge.  Is it going to be a decal wrap?  A template?  I think it would be fun build for a "Blue Max" Diorama.  Obviously, Squadron and Roden are trying to get a little more mileage out of that kit.  This may be the way to do it.  A limited run kit, sort of like Eduard did with their "Flyboys" series.  With the "Blue Max" Pfalz, what does Squadron/Roden have to put out as a companion model?  A Tiger moth?  A Fokker Triplane?  It's been awhile since I have seen the movie, so not sure what else was in the movie that is in kit form for Squadron/Roden to do.  I know there was  DVII replica in it that TVAL now has, but; would WNW want to release one of the Fokker DVII's as a "Blue Max" Fokker DVII.  I guess time will tell.

Cheers

I like the figure louging against the fuselage.  The Encore kits always have a figure.  Is that Bruno Stachel?! ;D

Mark,

This is interesting!

Funny enough, I recently completed Encore's 1/72 Blue Max Pfalz which I had picked up in a sale.  Basically, an ex Roden kit with Cartagraph decals.   Kit needed a bit of work to get together but was more than made up for by the quality of the decals - absolutely superb and very easy to work with.  In this scale, the decal for the fuselage was two wrap round the fuselage jobs.

A few of pics below.

Dave

It would be neat if the figure was a miniature of George Peppard as Bruno Stachel.  Think of the possibilities!  A diorama with Ursala Andrews, George Peppard in that one .............oh well.  8)
Dave:  Your model looks pretty cool  I think I would have to do one in 1/32nd.  They would probably just blow the sheet up to fit the larger scale.

Dave:  I love your Blue Max Pfalz, especially impressive in light of the tiny scale! ;)  It really looks good!

Mark:  Ah, yes . . . Ursula Andress as Countess Kaeti von Klugermann!  I concurr.  Maybe Model Cellars will come out with a figure, and I do mean figure! ;D  I vote for the towel outfit. ;)

Ahem, . . . returning to model aircraft topics for a moment, this new Encore kit raises some interesting thoughts.  Such kits represent actual aircraft painted for use in movies about WWI and post-war (i.e., "The Great Waldo Pepper" and Kessler's yellow and black DR.1) aviation, and they would certainly seem to be reasonable subjects for our modeling efforts, even though their paint schemes were "fictional" in one sense (but very real in another).  I guess this is a case of life imitating art imitating life, or something like that? ::)  I think I like it . . . espexcially if we get that figure of Kaeti von Klugermann! ;)

Regards,

Bob

Looks good - I love Encores kits, they come with resin & PE so you really don't need to add much in the way of AM.

i heard about the 1/32 blue max pfalz last year and wondered not long ago about when it was gonna be released. looking at the photo at the german show. the engine isnt a mercedes,it seems to be a 4 cyl? and the exhaust is on the wrong side, perhaps they did the kit to the spec of the pfalz replica from the movie, even duplicating the engine. one thing i wonder is the roden kit is a diii with buried guns but the movie pfalz had raised guns ala diiia. be interesting to see how they address these things.

It appears so ... You can just make out one of the gun barrels above the decking.  :o

The Blue Max is my favourite aviation movie ( just ahead of Battle of Britain) so I just must have that Pfalz. Anyone know when the Encore kit will be released and how much? Of course the real movie machine is now resident in New Zealand, restored and flying under the ownership of Sir Peter Jackson as part of the Wingnuts air force.

cheers
