News from Valom

Hello All,

  Just saw over on Aeroscale and the Valom website that Valom will be releasing two WWI kits both in 1/144th scale!?! A Sopwith Pup and Fokker D.VII in Dual Combo boxings. I'm curious as to why 1/144th scale? We (I) would REALLY like a new tool Sopwith Pup in 1/72.

There is a lot of interest in table top gaming in this scale. Rigging?

The old Airfix Pup is not too bad? I reckon We need a new RE8 or a Halberstadt CLII in braille scale before a new Pup

I just couldn't imagine working with such a tiny scale, I have enough trouble with 1:32 scale, but I bet there are people out there who could make those 1:144 scale aeroplanes look fantastic.

Perhaps another modelling world would provide 1:144 scale parts like turnbuckles.

In my opinion a D.VII in 1:72 is already small  And to be frank I am not interested in a 1:144 version.

noone is seriously modelling 1/144 right? they use these for wargaming. that small would be pointless imho. whats the wingspan avg 3cm?

Unfortunately I got rid of all my 1:72 Eduard WW1 stuff.

??   1:144 scale rigging

This is possible, a little unusual, some may even say perverse but..
You need to just scale down and find a friendly Plastic Surgeon that can supply you the facial suture in mono (you can't buy it from the manufacturer), I've tried.

I did have the great privilege many years ago, a 6 x hour job by the way, of seeing a young fellow have all of his R) side facial nerves re-attached under microscope.  He got drunk, had a fight and got pushed through a plate glass window.

Yes, suturing nerves together, end to end with a needle that you just cant see.  Now that would be rigging for Australia on the Olympic Team!

 
Anyway, enough of the gory stuff.
It’s possible to rig WW1 in 1:144 scale but I’m quite sure the judges at your local comps won’t even see the rigging.
