First off, this is
not my model, it's the first kit completed by my son Curt since he was 11 or 12, back around 2001. He’s not much into social media, but I was so thrilled when he brought it down the other night I decided to post these pics, being the proud dad and all. He used mostly Tamiya acrylics, mixing the PC10 according to the WnW formula, and masked the roundels. The rigging is Uschi’s elastic material, and he used some PE in the cockpit, but otherwise he pretty much stuck with what the kit supplied:
All in all he’s pretty happy with it, although he says there are a lot of things he’d do differently if he were to start it over. But it was a tremendous learning experience and he’s already started his next build, the 1:72 Roden F.1. His brother is working on a couple of Great War subjects also, so I’m glad to see that our particular niche in the hobby is alive and well!
