So I haven't been dabbling in WW1 lately, but am working on French subjects.

First, this Dora Wings 1/48 Caudron C.631.  This is a sport plane made in the 1930s and used to set transcontinental speed records from France to places like Japan and Madagascar.  This limited run kit was built out of the box.

I had been wanting to build a Grand Prix racing car from the early 1950s, but there are no really good kits of subjects from this era.
When I came across the Heller 1/24 Talbot Lago T26C, I decided this was it.  I upgraded a number of things on the kit - Scratchbuilt the wire wheels, of course, the grill was made in wire mesh, the dashboard was redone in my usual method, and I added a few details under the hood and on the exterior.

Thanks for looking in, and comments are welcome.

Both cracking looking models - I'm especially fond of the Talbot coming from an era of cars I find fascinating.

Great work

Anything French is OK by me; Saint-Exupéry would love that Simoun, and I’ve always been fascinated by the GP cars of the 1950s and early ‘60s. And “added a few things”? That seems a bit of an understatement… quite a few things, from the looks of it! Those wheels are stunning.

I can't remember if the Heller and SMER Talbot were from the same molds, or just independently poor kits.  Whichever it was, you have served up a beauty here.  The wire wheels are the first attention grabber, but everything about the model looks terrific!

Both are beautiful builds, thank you so much for sharing!

How did the Caudron build go? There are a couple of Dora Wings kits I'd like to get and I'm curious to know how much work is required (I'm not worries, only curious).

It doesn't seem to matter what your subject matter, the results are always Beautiful!

Lovely builds and great subjects. I have been using your Strutter build thread as a very helpful reference in my Strutter build, so it's nice to see what you have been up to.

Oh wow - lovely models.

Really like the vintage racing car.

Thanks for all those nice comments, everyone.
I have posted a Williams Bros Gee Bee in the Nostalgia forum.

Zac - the Dora Wings Caudron (and their other kits) are limit run type kits - no alignment pins and some flash to be trimmed.  Maybe a little more work than more engineered kits, but the results can be good.  Good detail, but a lot of small parts.  Their decals are very thin and work well.

Glad to be of service Nigel!
