Vickers Vimy Fly Model in 1/33rd Paper Card Model

Hello Fellow Great War Modelers,

This latest paper card model is done!  I put on final details over this past week including (but I'll forget something):
1) Bomb Racks (those were fun... )
2) Two large bombs complete with petal noses that I think I licked.  Not fun enough to put on the other two large and eight small.  I don't get paid that much and let's face it: this thing never dropped a bomb in anger anyway!
3) Spent casing bag on the front Lewis
4) Fixed a nacelle-to-fuselage brace
5) Lower wing tip eyelets (maybe they are tie downs?)
6) Thin paper overlay hiding my poor wing panel connecting points
7) Touch-up painting

I really, really like it.  Yes it's huge but impressive and a lovely addition.
Thanks for all the comments and encouragement along the way.  This model was fun from start to finish only having some waning mojo for those bomb racks.  What's next?  Stay tuned!

To say finishing this behemoth is an impressive feat would be an understatement, Dan. It's nothing short of amazing! Gives me hope that I might actually work up nerve to attack the WnW AEG one of these days.

And it's going to make a lovely centerpiece on your dining room table, I'm sure your long-suffering wife will agree that it's waay more attractive than a bunch of dumb flowers

Hats off to you, Dan, that's a mighty impressive creation.
I remember building a Wilhelmshaven card model of the Scharnhorst years ago and I enjoyed making all the turrets and Arado seaplane then all the deck structures, but the bloomin' hull would not line up properly, no matter how much I tried to reinforce it to prevent warping. I eventually gave up. Card modelling is not easy and you have triumphed here. 😊

What an impressive model of the Vimy - especially in paper - amazing work.

I'm curious to know though - are these paper models relatively sturdy when built?

Dan you are the master with paer/card models and this is proof positive of that fact.

The photographs show how huge the model is and as for the bomb racks, I wonder where you get the skill and patience to make them.

Thanks, Everyone!  It was a really nice build and so little went wrong that it was super enjoyable.  I am now figuring out where to put it but for now, it's just nice to look at.

More soon...and thanks for the support of this odd non-plastic hobby.  It's nice you all let me play!

Thank you, Joachim!  It is kind of underappreciated but also rather different to work with...after the learning curve, you can really make some cool models.  Especially WWI era which is great.
