Eduard 1/72nd Nieuport 17 Batch Build

Nothing like digital photos blown up big on a screen to show you your errors, no? 

There's something about it I'm still not quite satisifed with. Alexis thinking either a very light overspray of my alu-dope mix or a very, very thin mix of light grey or white might tie it all in better.

Thoughts anyone?

To me the finish still looks a tad dark (although that may be just the photos) so I'd try another thin coat to lighten it up a bit

Thank you Andreas! Since then I've gone over it very lightly with a very dilute solution of the aluminum dope mix (4:1 Tamiya LP11 and Tamiya flat white) and then a very, very dilute mix of flat white to blend it in and try to unify it. I'll post photos later this evening.

Well, a bit more progress on my Eduard Nie. 17 build. My first time ever masking for roundels as I don't like the colors Eduard offers on theirs, nor anyone else's for that matter. I made some mistakes, some which can be corrected, some not, but I to am driving forward nevertheless.



As always, criticism, feedback, etc. welcome.

               No, this build isn't dead, just appears that way. Life has gotten pretty rough since I last posted on this build thread. After all of the events of the last year, I finally have made it back to the bench.

- As noted earlier, the batch-build has been reduced to just one. My workbench, etc. just isn't set up for that I'm afraid.

- I wanted to build Tarascon's Zigomar 4 with that wonderfully chipped cowling as illustrated on the Eduard box art, but I cannot for the life of me right now get that chipping down, so that build is a future project.

- Instead I'm going to attempt to build Dorme's N1720. That meant I had to take some backwards steps and paint up the upper wing with the clear section.

- The landing gear has stymied me, I hope I have a handle on it now.

OK, my workbench is at critical mass. I'm making good progress (I hope I didn't jinx myself there) on my current build, but there's just so MUCH crap on the desk, I'm afraid I'm going to knock something onto my build, or knock my build off of the workbench trying to reach around something.
I'm going to have to put this build and most of its parts somewhere safe while I do something about this mess.
Y'all ever get in that situation?

Super job on masking the markings Warren , first time eh ? With that results one would think you have done it many times before .

Oh yes , my work space can turn to a really mess quickly getting out of control to the point of no return . To gain control of that mess through out the build will do a bit of clean up maintenance after sun-assemblies are built . Which also helps keep the sanding dust form collecting up .

Of course, every build! I clear the workbench after every build but no matter how I try the available space on the bench gets smaller and smaller through the build until I am working in a space the size of a postage stamp!
