Wings of Horus - Ruston 1000 - WNW Sopwith Camel
« on: November 15, 2023, 05:27:42 AM »
Heya

a bit late but wanted to wait till after SMW 2023 but here is my completed version of the famous Egyptian themed Sopwith Camel build and painted as such to celebrate the 1000th aircraft build by Ruston Lincoln during 1918. It won finalist at SMW 2023. I also think its the first (thats ive seen at least) Wings of Horus camel in 1/32

Markings are mostly produced with paint masks but decals were used for the numbers and the lettering on the cowling, aswell as any stencil detail along with the fuselage roundels.

From all the reference images i can find Lincoln may have not been painted on the underside aswell leaving the word Ruston on its own

I have already commented elsewhere, but let me also express my awe here. It is a spectacular model. And congratulations on the well deserved nomination at Telford.

Very nice indeed, lovely work all round. I saw this at SMW it looks great in the flesh. And as someone who hates masking, you did great work doing this mainly with masks.

Lovely work, well executed. I'm always surprised this scheme never appeared in one of the special editions or AM decal sets, but you've done it proud without any external assistance.
