Taube 1/48
« on: September 26, 2023, 02:12:29 AM »
Inspired by Joachim beautiful scratch-built Taube, I also went to my archives and brought up one of my few 1/48th kits.  It is the Flashback offering and as is with most of my kits, it built out of the box.  The rigging is monofilament sewing thread. (.006).
The only exception to out of the box is the upper decal to give the wing a translucent look.  I made a stencil of the kit decal on thin paper, attached it with water and then misted the name using very low pressure.  The color is as best I can remember is Tamiya Buff mixed with yellow.  I use this color for all of my unbleached linen and it changes with each batch.
This my third Taube and the only kit I have in all three major scales; the Pegasus kit was number one, Flashback was no. 2 and I was given the WNW kit that I modified to look like the Flashback kit as no. three.

Super, especially the translucent effect on the wing. These pre-war types are really interesting - it is good to see a number of them appearing on the site recently.

Love the pre-war aeroplanes, and this is one of my favorites. Great job, Dennis, and I'm with Stephen, that translucent effect is a knockout.

A lovely build of an old kit. I too like the see through effect, that's worked really well.
