1/48 Eduard Sopwith Camel Comic
« on: September 05, 2023, 04:55:09 AM »
Dear all,

I've been suffering from a real lack of modelling mojo recently so selected a more straightforward colour/marking scheme to help keep things a bit more easier going.

This is not my worst effort but it is not my best either.   This new Eduard tooling is good with parts that fit together well.   The only drawback is that some items are very finely cast and therefore very easy to break whilst handling/building.   I kept breaking the cabane struts and the tailskid - I ended up reinforcing the tail skid as this part is extremely fragile.

Built strictly OOB and brush painted as always.   Rigged using sewing smoke coloured nylon mending thread for all bracing wires and Oschi standard elastic thread for control cables.

Marking represents No. 44 (HD) Sqn, C Flight, Hainault Farm, UK, October 1918.

As we say in fencing, what's the point!

Beautiful job, Dave. Is that NIVO? Looks great, whatever color it is.

Lovely model, Dave. Excellent finish and you've got the characteristic stance of the Camel just right.
Nice one.

AS always Dave you are your own worst critic!

Looks really good and in an interesting scheme too. Looking forward to seeing this in the near future.

Stephen.

I do prefer the look of the Comic to the standard Camel (probably heretical, I know) and this is a great example. Lovely work and thanks for sharing!

Bravo Dave, I think it looks fantastic. I would be so happy if it was my work! Hope it did the job of rekindling the mojo ready for another project.
