Fokker E.I - K. Wintgens (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: September 04, 2023, 11:36:39 PM »
Hard to believe but we are in Sept already and this is only going to be my first WNW kit in this year... Eindeckers were truly never my favourites but when WNW demise was announced I decided to buy and build at least one of these. And here it is, one of the really first fighters, my choice will be Fok  E5/15.
I started with the veneer Garuda prop which is ready now and the Ur.0 engine from Taurus which is in progress.

Thank you, Marc, I will do my best.

And in the meantime Ur.0 basically assembled and ready for colours.

Stunning work, Prze. If I didn't know better I'd think it was an exhibit of a 1:1 engine & prop from a museum.

I don't know about the rest of you but I want to get out the little pump can, prime this baby and get it started. Lovely work Prze!

The prop and the engine look beautiful Prze.

Details on the engine are very crisp and sharp. Looking forward to the rest of your build.

Cheers,
Willem

Thank you for your kind comments.

And in the meantime I am working on interior bits doing some preparations.

First, I chose the E.I option with high wings mount, which required making the new holes and filling the standard ones for mid-high mount.

Then remembering photos of many Fokker models with unnatural negative dihedral I opted for adding plastic pieces to tighten and reinforce the sockets for large rear wings tabs. It resulted in a desired situation of wings having no apparent dihedral even when just dry-assembled.

And finally it turned out that correct fitting of turtledeck in front of the cockpit in this version required cutting tine notches in the small front wing tabs. Again, the result is satisfactory in test dry assembly.

Nice progress shots. I have an EIII to do so was interested to see how you approached the wings because many of the WNW Eindeckers I have seen built have negative dihedral. This is very helpful, thanks.

Oh my Prze - that propeller and engine is stunning, sir!

I love the attention going in to converting this one to an earlier E.I. This should be another wonderful build from a master modeller!

Cheers,

BC
