Albatros D.VA Radiator information
« on: July 26, 2023, 03:48:08 AM »
Hi all,

I am starting with the Model Expo 1/16 Albatros D.VA kit.
I want to update many of the kits metal parts like the radiator.

Does someone has more detailed information or drawings for this radiator?

That would be most appreciated.
 Thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi, Mark, I have the Smithsonian book on "Stropp" which I believe has some drawings and a good photo of the topside. I may have some info in an issue of WWI Aero as well, I know there was an article with period drawings of various radiators, but I'm not sure whether the D.Va was included or not. I'll check.

Send me a PM with your email, don't want to share potentially copyrighted material on the forum (even though it is for research purposes only, which as far as I know is permissible).

I some day have to try and find the Smithsonian book on "Stropp".

Difficult to find/get here in The Netherlands or for very high prices.

I’ll keep on looking.

My copy is literally falling apart I've read it so many times. I checked ABE Books, and there are quite a few available for about $30-40US, but what shipping would be to the Netherlands I'm not sure. If you can't find a copy, let me know, I'll be glad to look for whatever you need.

All best,

Dave V.

Mine is falling apart as well, I think the publisher must have used some cheap glue on the paperback binding as some titles in that series have held up quite well. It's an old resource, but really great still IMHO. I'm sure one will turn up for you sooner or later MarkH.
