1/72 Smer Fokker E.III

The Smer Fokker E.III is a repackaged Eduard E.III with different decals. I enjoyed this build until it came to the decals. Maybe they were old but I had to replace the serial numbers with blue rider serial numbers. All things considered I was content with this build.

I used Tamiya XF22. The metal cowling was Tamiya XF16. I used a sharp pencil to make the squiggly lines and simply futured over them when finished. It was much easier than I had anticipated.

Gaspatch machine gun and .004 stainless steel wire for rigging. Eduard after market seat belts and some simulated oil stains. I must learn to paint national markings. The only aggravation with this build was working and repairing the decals.

That is a Lovely little Oil Soaked Fokker! The Swirls are outstanding, especially in this scale! Well Done overall.

Super, love the effect you got with the pencil line squiggles. A beautiful model.

Great finish and a nice little model. Beside the cowling, I think the gun jacket finish is super. How did you do that one?

First class even more so because it is in the One True Scale. The turned cowling and mg finish are just exquisite.

The machine gun was airbrushed with Tamiya gun metal. I think it was luck that it turned out that well. Thanks for the nice comments. I will eventually try the Airfix Eindecker in the future.

Thanks for the explanation on the cowling. I am going to need to finish the one currently on the bench and start another, just to try your technique. Thanks!

That's a lovely build and only serves to remind me to pick up an example of the Airfix kit. Lovely work!

Great work! I love the cowling, and the rest looks really nice as well. I have a couple of Eduard Eindeckers in the stash, this gets me amped up for them.

Very nicely done Rip. I like your technique with the squiggles. I’m currently building an E.III using a different approach. I’ll have to try another with your method. Thanks for sharing.

When I see SMER, I don't think of this quality. Well done!
