1/32 Albatros D Spinner for WNW Axial propeller
« on: July 09, 2023, 05:27:13 AM »
Yet another retooled item from the old catalog, this is my take on the spinner profile for the Albatros D type spinner. There were likely many variations, but I've never been a fan of WNW's depiction, which to my eyes is based on the TVAL reproductions which in turn seem to have been derived from the [mangled] Canberra specimen. But -- it's a highly subjective thing! Anyway, my spinner is tailored to fit the WNW Axial propeller -- just as the originals were. Note that this will NOT fit Proper Plane's 1/32 Axial prop.

Hi Bo - would you ever consider down-scaling this to 1/48 to fit the Eduard kits, to replace their incorrectly shaped spinners?

Thanks!

Fantastic Bo! I'd certainly purchase a few. I likewise have the same question regarding the Albatros fuel tank :)

How might I be able to assist with this one? Can I help by measuring up some of the Eduard kits for you?

Cheers!

No, I’ll have to have the kit(s) in my hands for this to work efficiently. Therefore guidance on which one to get would be helpful…

Edit: Eduard 8113 Albatros D.V 1/48 on order...

8113 was going to be my recommendation Bo :)

I think the spinner would also be good for the other 1/48 Eduard Albatri as well (the D.II and D.III), as I believe the Eduard parts are the same for all of their kits.

As an aside, both the D.V, and D.II/D.III kits could also benefit from having a fuel tank available, I would think (but now i'm probably just being selfish!) :)

Cheers!

I’ll have a look for sure. As I’m sure you understand, it’s not a simple matter of scaling things down— stuff has to be tailored to fit and tolerances adjusted. There are minimal wall thicknesses and wire sizes — things that I am always pushing to the limits even in larger scales. On the other hand, I’ve done the legwork so it’s not like starting from scratch…

I opened the box and looked inside!  :-D

It’s still in the queue, but other wheels have been squeakier…

All good Bo, just curious - definitely understand that 1/48 WW1 isn't always top of the pile for aftermarket goodies! Keep doing your great work!
