Sandy, I'm terribly sorry to step on your toes about being the first to start a build thread.  I did not see your posting.  Your build looks very good!
I do have Simon's pictures and they are very helpful.
My model will not have the roundels on the fuselage, so no see through roundel.

Ken, please, no problem. I'll still be thinking about colour schemes when yours is complete.
And it'll be a beaut.

Simon's interior roundel shot

I missed your start of this kit Sandy. You should put it up here on the Under Construction Heading  8)

Cheers Rick - maybe a few pics when it's done.

But meanwhile let's all enjoy this terrific LCT that Ken's working his magic upon.

More 'magic'...

The cowling has a reinforcement ring on the front that is riveted around the cowling opening.  I machined such a piece, not having the capability to photoetch one.

Here I am drilling shallow holes to simulate the rivets.  Next I parted the piece off in the lathe.

Here's a test fit.

It was too bright, so I painted on a flat coat to better match the rest of the cowling.
I haven't fitted the spark plug wires and may not, as I tend to make a glue bomb of that job.

Then I went back to the interior.  Here's the rudder bar with PE turnbuckles and the pilot's floorboard.

There's two details that Roden left out that I thought should be on the model - the pulley that activates the air brakes, which is visible on the observer's floor and the bottom of the control stick which is visible on the underside of the fuselage.  I milled this slot into the bottom of the fuse and will later put in a half-round piece that represents the bottom of the control stick.  It will be partially covered with a thin metal cover.

Here, I've added more interior detail - more pieces for the air brake actuator and cables for the adjustable tail plane.  Next will be some fuel lines from the gas tank.  I plan to hook up the rudder and tail skid cables after the sides are on.  Keeping my fingers crossed that this will work out.

I'll be trying to work out the elevator cable routing next.

Congratulations Ken.
Your interior is wonderful.
Here is a link to help you with the internal cables.

Really cool work Ken. The cowl ring you machined is simply amazing!  Very nice additional detail work you’ve added in the interior as well.

All the best,
Tim

I'm always impressed with parts made on a lathe. Wish I had that skill!

Great to see the Rodens Strutter on your bench. And your results are just spectacular, the interior, the engine, the cowling with that reinforcing ring! Just wow!

Fantastic work so far, Ken. That piece for the cowling you've made is amazing.

The interior looks wonderfully realistic. That cowling reinforcement band is superb. I'm wondering how it is possible to remove such a thin sliver on the lathe without it folding up. It must have required immense concentration.

Thank you for the very kind comments, everyone, and especially Spyros and Simon for the reference pictures.  Now I see there are a few more details to be added!
