NO...it doesn't fly, but maybe someone will find it interesting and different.  And it IS WWI after all!

Admins:  Please feel free to remove if this doesn't belong.  I also put a shot of it over in the ship area.  It's fun to share anyway.

Cheers to you all and some really fine work on here!

That is awesome Dan!  Very realistic look to it. The figures add a lot of life also. Very well done!  Looking forward to seeing the Lohner as well.

All the best,
Tim

I am continually amazed at the card models that you make Dan. You really are a master of this medium. That is one superb model and the figure makes it even more realistic.

My hat off to you sir!

Stephen.

Thanks Tim and Stephen.  Means a lot coming from you two!  You both should try a card model.  Stephen...you'd be a natural as a scratch builder and Tim: there are so many esoteric subjects.  I have a Vickers Vimy in the wings!

Cheers you Guys!

Thanks, Dave and Rick.  It was a fun build and a nice change.  Now, back to some aircraft!  ;D

P.S.  Here is the final reveal video with a more complete look at the beast...if interested!

Dan, you cannot put too many of these here. The more the merrier. So glad you chose this over the Lhoner. Great job, hope you stumble across a U.31 Class if such a kit exists.

Thanks, Alan.  I couldn't help it.  It also went a bit faster and allowed me to get some data on the flying boat.  I could make a neat forced perspective dio out of them!  We'll see.  A bit too ambitious methinks.

I'll be on the lookout for a U.31.  I'd also like to make a model of the British "K" class.  They had such character and odd shapes even if they were apparently death traps.

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

Fantastic work Dan, there are a lot of compound curves. How on earth did you create them from paper? In fact how on earth do you manage to make such realistic models in this medium? I watched your YouTube videos of the Sopwith Camel build and found them utterly fascinating. I cribbed the way you made wheel covers for my current project. ;)

Thanks, Richie!

You certainly have the ability to give it a go.  It's surprising how much making these out of paper mimics the real construction techniques!  Airplanes, ships, armor you name it.  Just takes trial, error and practice.  They are lots of fun.
