Caudron G.IV, CSM 1/48
« on: April 17, 2023, 01:44:27 AM »
Here are quite a few final photos of my CSM Caudron G.IV. Enjoy, I hope!

The kit is excellent and CSM has really done a super job turning this relatively complicated aircraft into a very buildable plastic kit.
I struggled a lot with this kit, as some of you already know from my under construction thread, but none of that was due to the engineering of the kit. It is rather likely that I would have struggled even more if it hadn't been so well designed.

There are a few scratch built things, like the pulsometers (if that is what they were called) and the only aftermarket additions are the two machineguns from Gaspatch.
/Fredrik

Cracking job on your Caudron and brilliant rigging on this one.

I saw one of these yesterday at a model show and it was not nearly as good as yours. The weathering and chipping on the cowlings are first rate. The details are stunning, especially the front gun mount and generator on the top wing. In all a mini-masterpiece and I for one would not have thought that you had any problems building this one.

Amazing Fredrik,

You can just see how much work has gone into this…

I know you were not completely happy with the model at first Fredrik but now a week or two has passed since completion I hope the problems you had are forgotten and you are happy with the result.

For me this is a brilliant example of the arts of detailing, painting and weathering a model. I find it quite breathtaking and wish I could achieve this standard of realism.

I am in awe - I have the 1:32 scale G3 and I have been saving these pages for the day when I work up the courage to tackle it. You have really done an outstanding job! I don't know whether to be inspired, or discouraged :) ???

Thank you all for you kind comments! The model is resting on top of a cardboard box, waiting for a final resting place of some sort. I seem to be running out of space for my finished models... And, Richie, the longer it's been completed, the better I like it. So you are/were right about that! :)

You're definitely not alone on that: I think my lack of display space (and impending move) is a large part of my current lack of modelling mojo. But this deserves to be seen and admired, Fredrik!
