Copper State Models 1/32 Standing German Airman
« on: April 15, 2023, 04:59:36 AM »
To compliment my build on the WnW Taube, I've put together a resin figure from Copper State Models - their 1/32 Standing German Airman. The sculpting and casting is quite good, and the figure comes with two optional heads. I've included a photo of each option, but will go with the early-helmet version with the scarf. Hope to get him painted up soon.
Cheers,
Gary

He’s a handy little chap that figure. I’ve done him a couple of times alongside builds chatting to pilots.

That looks interesting. The helmet/scarf version certainly changes up the look!

You're absolutely right Dave - I wished I ordered two of them  ;)

Some painting progress to show on my figure. I like to paint the head separately, and airbrushed the body black, then sprayed the Field Grey part of the uniform with a mix of Tamiya acrylic. The rest will be brush-painted in Vallejo acrylics. I made a start on the head, using Vellejo acrylics and will work more definition into the face with shadows and highlights.
Cheers,
Gary

Looks great already. I may have asked this but do you use a wet pallet for you Vallejo?

Thanks Steve - yes, I do use a home-made wet pallet. I took one of those lock'n'locks from the kitchen, put sponge in the bottom, and some parchment paper on top. Soaked with tap water, it'll last about a week or so before the paints separate and the thing needs a good clean and replenishment. The photo below shows my current one, which is a bit passed it's best-before date  ;)

The figure is more-or-less done, and will be added to my final display when I get the Taube completed.
Cheers,
Gary

Stunning figure painting, he looks very lifelike. He will look fantastic standing alongside the Taube. Mine tended to look like the walking dead so I avoid including them now.

Fantastic paint job! Just the proper amount of light and shading to look life-like!
