Americal Gryphon Decals Archive
« on: March 13, 2023, 10:31:54 AM »
I have created a project to establish a complete archive of Americal Gryphon Decals.  The project was started at the Hyperscale Forum.

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hyperscale/americal-gryphon-archive-t536510.html

Contact was made with Charles Hart who helped Dr. Glen Merrill establish A/G Decals.  He has agreed to assist the project along with a several  other members.  It is unclear when the archive will be completed but the goal will be to establish 300dpi or better imagery for all the decal sheets and the instruction sheets.  This should prove to be a useful reference for modelers and for those wishing to create their own custom decals.

If you are interested in grabbing a copy of the current archive, a link has been posted in the thread starter to download the current archive.  The archive is currently not complete and should be considered an on-going project.  If you wish to contribute please contact me either here or on the Hyperscale Forum.

System Admin - if you wish to relocate this posting to a more appropriate place or want me to post elsewhere please advise.

Thanks for that, the little booklets that came with the decals were worth the price of admission alone IMHO. I went hog wild buying up what I could afford of the 1/72nd scale stuff before Dr. Merrill packed it in.

Many of the instruction sheets were multi-scale - ie. the information was the same for different scales.  This proved to be the case for many 1/72 and 1/48 scale sheets.

Wandering in out of deep lurk, I noticed this project and would be happy to help if I can be useful.  I bought most (or all) of Glen's 1/48 sheets, and I have his 16-page 2000 catalogue, which enumerates A/G products, in all scales, from No. 1 to No. 175.  If any of this is useful to the compilers, let me know.  It may be easier to reach me directly:  [email protected]

Lance, everything you listed would help . . . best to download the current archive then you can see what is already on hand, We don't have that many hi-res scan material yet, there are some mostly just recently added. Viewing what is on hand in the archive and comparing to whatever scans you can do, preferably 300dpi, would likely complete the archive.  I will PM my mail.

Updated the archive and uploaded a new link for download - have about 25% of the complete catalog done now.  Please keep sending things in.  We are getting there.

Thank you to Dave Calhoun for some very substantial contributions.

The current status of the project as of 26 Apr 2023 is here: https://mega.nz/file/B3RiBB5L#RtqHwuceaXYvRwApm5XTMQbh2a8HUeCHsPZ5PRZTT_Q

The current archive as of 26 Apr 2023 can be downloaded here (1.15GB): https://mega.nz/file/0iQRFZCQ#BkIyGBuNz2i70_6VLuJfbtuo1R5jjyBozRYwE1MrXgg

The goal is to have 300dpi or better scan images of decals and the instruction sheets.  If you are interested in contributing, please review the current status and compare the contents of what is in the archive with what you have.  Please PM me if you have something that is not currently in the archive or is not listed as already in the archive at 300dpi or better. I wiil provide an e-mail address to send your contribution. The archive will be updated at  least weekly if contributions are made.  Once the archive is complete I will post a link for the completed archive and periodically bump this thread.

If you have any questions please PM me.

The current status of the project as of 30 Apr 2023 is here:

The current archive as of 30 Apr 2023 can be downloaded here (1.45GB):

Those interested can see that the archive is getting pretty large and we are almost 2/3rds complete with something and about 40% complete with definitive additions that do not need replacement due to quality/resolution issues.  In some cases we have the desired resolution but the scans involving white backgrounds often do not show well and therefore is someone is able to produce a high quaiity scan that can pick out the white contrast please feel free to make that submission.

The current status of the project as of 22 Dec 2023 is here:
https://mega.nz/file/9nBhSR4R#8_1gZdVmZ2aSa2DqgEwhjtvS6EX-HD3aycEuOUNTesQ

The current archive as of 22 Dec 2023 can be downloaded here (1.49GB):

A bit of background work has been done on older submissions, attempts to clean up the existing scans.  The intent is to revisit earlier items in the archive and digitally clean up things like missing letters, misaligned text strings.  I am not going to provide detailed edits but rather will just include the changes.  If you want the most current, up-to-date archive get it from the latest posting.  Links for earlier postings will remain active only until a newer posting is made.

If you have any questions please PM me.
