1/72 Avis Bristol M1.C
« on: January 14, 2023, 03:40:26 AM »
I thought this was going to be an easy build. I was wrong.  Lots of fit issues involving the wing to fuselage joint as well as others fit issues. It is a nice model once assembled.

The wing comes in one piece but I had to cut them in half and glue them in  separately. The tail assembly was more difficult than it needed to be. The engine cowling was in two pieces but I don't know why.  I adjusted the full cowling that came with the kit instead. There was decent cockpit detail with the kit.

I used Mister Kit PC12 and Mister Kit BC05 clear doped linen.  Rigging was .004 stainless steel. It was one of the easier kits to rig.  I found the fuselage decals a bit too small.  Next time I will use after market decals.  Overall a good looking kit.  I am glad Avis produced this in 1/72 scale.  Be aware that this kit is not as easy as it appears.

Excellent finish Rip.  Thank you for the color callouts. I like the PC-12 very much. This is an aircraft I’ve wanted to build for some time. I hope I can get as good results from my Pegasus kit.

Like Rick I agree that it would not be possible to see that you had problems with this kit as the finished model is first class.

Fit issues aside, what a nice little ship and a great job.  I always liked this machine.  Just finished reading about the airwar in the middle east and I believe these guys were used.  Pretty neat.

Thanks for posting...Dan

Great recovery from fit issues. Nice model of an a/c we don't get to see often.

Super result from what seems like an immensely challenging kit. The finished model is lovely and a testament to your skill and persistence.
