Hi All,
I live in Exeter, NH and am getting back into model building after ~55 year hiatus. I stumbled onto these forums since I love WW I aircraft, and their history. I just retired in 2020 and figured it's about time. I love the builds I have been seeing! So much talent and experience here.
Back when I was a kid I built WW I biplanes, WW II jets, and also I got into building and launching Estes model rockets. I still have model rockets lying around but, sadly my old plastic models are loong gone. Waaaah!
I wish to get back into it for several reasons ... I enjoyed it as a kid and want to try it again ... I like detail oriented, crafty hobbies ... it will be relaxing and fun on rainy days! I also have been active as an amateur astronomer, having built a number of reflector telescopes. I even ground a few mirrors myself.
My first priority ... get a nice work area for myself.
2nd priority .... get myself some nice kits
3rd priority .... get myself some decent tools and quality paint supplies
4th priority .... start building!
I just picked up a 1:48 scale MiG-21MF model to cut my teeth on. I know ... it's not WW I. I figure my first build will end up really ugly so this kit will be the sacrificial lamb! LOL
I hope to learn a lot from all you good folks and will be posting progress as it comes.
Happy New Year to all !!
Rob
