1/72 “Colorful Collection” Albatros Fighters
« on: December 27, 2022, 02:03:01 PM »
After building ten Fokker triplanes, I followed that up with Five Albatros fighters.  Four are from the Eduard Albatros D.V Weekend Edition kit, and one is the Roden D.III.  That weekend edition kit comes with a huge decal sheet, with four different schemes.   (I used two of them.)

The planes and pilots:
Blue:  Alfred Lenz, Jasta 22 (kit decals)
Red:  Max Ritter von Muller, Jasta 28 (kit decals, boxtop scheme))
Green:  Helmut Dilthey, Jasta 40. (lozenge from the kit, other markings all masked and painted)
Dk blue w/ stars: Michael Sigmann, Jasta 78b, (kit lozenge, star decals from Eduard’s first Profi-pack release of this kit in 2001, the only time they have ever used his markings in 1/72)

Encore (Roden) D.III s.153:  Godwin von Brumowski, Flik 41j (Print Scale decals)

What a superb collection to go with your triplanes. Another 5 of these would not go amiss I am sure.

Stephen.

I do have six more copies of the Eduard D.V kit, with a tentative list of  markings/pilots for them.
I also have 4 more of the Roden D.III kit, but haven’t really picked out markings for them yet…..
Haven’t posted them yet, but I built two Eduard D.VII kits, with 10 more in the stash….
( I still have 4 more Dr.1 kits, with a list of 10 pilots to pick from…!)

I must say that the Triplanes are the easiest builds-  minimal rigging, and no lozenge with rib tapes. The Eduard D-7 kits go together really well, but I REALLY wish they had printed the rib tapes on the lozenge decals!

Wonderful selection of different paintjobs. A circus indeed! I wish they would released again the starry Bavarian!
