Pleasing rib effect on Pfalz silbergrau

I had an idea to mix Tamiya sky grey and aluminium acrylic 50/50 to make silbergrau thinned with cellulose thinners for spraying.
It looks pretty good.
Before futuring it I buffed it with micro mesh polisher and got a very quick and pleasing effect of popping out the rib tapes in a shinier metallic sheen whilst dirtying up the troughs between tapes. Effect took ten mins and beats masking the ribs off. I'll see if I can catch the effect on camera tomorrow .

Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with my old friend.

dont you love those accidental discoveries? reminds me of the time i painted my dh-9 pc-10 then afterward decided to go with a darker mix.there were a couple imperfections so i decided to use some 2000 grit to buff them out. it ended up revealing the lighter color on the ribs and raised areas. which turned out to look nice. i do this now on certain builds deliberately to get this effect now.

I do that too. I use a Mastercasters polishing stick. I buff whilst matt, then it shines up the highlighted ribs in a really pleasing effect.

Thanks so much for posting about your "accident" Drdave, I'll definitely have to give this a try.
