Aurora/Revell/Monogram Sopwith Camel, 1/48.....
« on: October 19, 2022, 01:41:52 PM »
Some scratched bits, no aftermarket. Vallejo paints with E-Z line rigging. All the control horns are scratch built, I somehow managed to break them all off.

WIP:  https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=13337.0

The ubiquitous bottom shot.

I did Roy Brown's aircraft in what seems to be the generally excepted scheme on the day he encountered von Richthofen.

Another oldie I did as a kid redone with AMS.

Thanks for looking....

Wow Allan!  I have to look hard to see that’s not a more refined kit than the Aurora one.  Really nice paintwork.

What wonderful work on this ancient kit!   You really have made a silk purse from a sow's ear - looks brillliant!

As I said elsewhere, an excellent job and a terrific example of what can be done with an "obsolete" kit.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging remarks. Next up, to hone CDL techniques, is the SMER issue of this old Aurora kit.

While I'm enjoying these old classic kits, my pile of more "serious" kits is growing no thanks to this website......

A couple of these I've had, the rest gotten for a song on evilbay.
Thanks again for your knowledge and encouragment,
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

You show that old kits can also be built! Very nice effort on this venerable Camel, thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to your Nieuport build but seriously would love to see you tackle that Roden BE.12!

You are evil Tim...
It's your fault I just ordered the Windsock Datafile on the Be12......

Allan,

I wouldn't even consider building one of these.  Outstanding effort, beautiful result.

Wow, such a brilliant result from such a horrible old kit. Actually, that's not fair. It's a wonderful old kit in the right hands as you have shown.
