I do love what you're doing with this one Tim.  1/72 truly is the scale of the God's in my opinion; often because you need to be one to either do the work in this scale, or because God is the only one that can really see it when it's all closed up

Really Outstanding work Tim! There was a time when I collected/ built in all scales and I once had this conversion. I know I never would have equaled what you are doing!

I completed quite a bit this week.  Here I have attached the flying surfaces and added a lot of exterior details. Photo etch lacing, Aeroclub Scarf gun ring, elastic chord cockpit combing, and plastic access panels.



Bottom surface details are scratch built bomb racks, and access panels. The grate structure is an internal bomb rack I forgot to cut out. I’ll just paint the holes black.



Airfix has the struts molded together and have you glue them into these channels in the underside of the upper wing.
I decided to fill them in and only use the cabane struts for wing attachment.  This way I can paint the wings and not have unsightly gaps between the struts. 



Here is the model painted in PC-10.  Note the cabane struts in the upper wing. 




Next is to mask the PC-10 underside edging.



Now comes the rib and spar masking



Light overspray of CDL clear doped linen then remove the masks. Make sure you leave the edges masked!




Then lightly overspray the ribs to make them look translucent



Finally, remove the edge masks and touch up the PC-10

Nicely done.
Are you sure the wrap around included the ailerons and elevators? Normally the PC10 wrap is only around the outer edges of the flight surfaces.

Part VI

Painting continues:
I decided that the surfaces were kind of plain looking.  I really want more depth to the colors so I opted to mask the ribs again and lightly overspray Tamiya clear smoke. 



This is a little tedious masking it again but I have a good technique down and have gotten pretty proficient.



I’m really pleased with the results. I took my time and slowly sprayed the smoke color.  In the past I rushed and over did the effects. I think this is much better. 



Topside is much more  subtle than this photo shows



Future sprayed in prep for decal placement




I’m going to try and use some Pegasus decals for the cockades. I’ve had poor results with these in the past. I’m waiting for the second coat of micro film to set.

Part VII

Decals are on and the tail plane and control lines are rigged. Pegasus cockades are slightly too large on the wings. They were problematic and needed repairs.  The Blue Rider decals took about ten minutes to release from the backing.  They are very thick as well. At least they held together!
