Hansa Brandenburg W-29. Dual build
« on: August 30, 2022, 10:33:37 AM »

W-29 #2292 from C2MGHFT 1918 This aircraft is dressed in the dark naval lozenge. It has the early wide Balkenkreuze and the power plant is the Benz Bz III. My attempt is to demonstrate a side by side comparison of the two lozenge types and early vs late national markings. This kit is the Eastern Express W-29. Of the two, I found this to be the easiest to assemble. One piece wing and ease of undercarriage assembly.

W-29 #2532 of C3MG, 1918. This aircraft has the light lozenge and late style Balkenkreuze painted over grey fat insignia. This is te Czech Master resin kit. Surface detail is very fine and more abundant than the EE kit. The resin wings were warped and needed to be dunked in hot water and reformed into shape. Much cleanup required of all parts. I am becoming less and less fond of resin kits. Brittle thick wings made aileron removal too risky

Great stuff. Very inspiring too!  I just received the windsock datafile on the W.29 in the post about a week ago and I’m itching to do one too  :D

A great pair. Very fine results taking into account the quality of the kit.
