RFC Hale Bomb Carriers - Release Mechanism
« on: January 18, 2013, 04:07:50 AM »
Dear friends,

I am about to superdetail the center Hale Bomb Carrier on my RE.8 Harry Tate with a HGW set. Can someone give me a hint about the release mechanism and potential cables from the carrier to the nascelle? I can't find any reference online.

Thanks in advise,

Dirk

Hi Dirk

I know this is he wrong aircaft type but you might get something useful from these shots of the Vintage Aviator's FE2B

Note the wooden toggles on ends of the two release cables on the sides of the nacelle at the back of the observers cockpit

Hope this helps

Tony

Hi Tony,

thanks a lot for your answer. The center carrier of the Fee seems to be the same.

I can imagine that the hale carrier on the Harry Tate works in a similar way. Maybe the cables were guided straight through the fuselage into the cockpit. As you said before, the release cables will end into wooden toggles in the observers cockpit.

By the way: Beautiful and informative pictures from the FE2.b.

Here is a link to another useful picture of another RFC bomb carrier:
