1:72 DFW T28 Maiden flight
« on: June 20, 2022, 07:21:55 PM »
This vignette try to portrait the maiden flight of DFW T28 prototype. Based on this blurry picture:

1:72 is the used scale. Aircraft model comes from old Classic Plane vacuform. At time of building, better Elf model was not available. Wings are made from scratch using Windsock Mini-data plans.
Figures are transformations in differtent grades from many sets using heads from Presier  Twenties passanger box.

Greetings from Spain.

Beautiful vignette, alfa. Great modelling of T28 and figures, great composition - and splendidly observed humour too.
Bravo signor!

Lovely little vignette. The figures really bring it to life and are not easy to do in this scale.

Big fan of the Flea which looks like something from a kids cartoon and have my eye on an Elf kit at some point  ;)

What a wonderful diorama and so well made. It captures the atmosphere of those times well. Excellent work!

One of those aeroplanes my wife can't stand but I'm weirdly fascinated by - what a gorgeous little diorama! Terrific work!

Really well done Diorama! A great way to highlight an ungainly little aircraft!

Thank you all for your kind comments,
The truth is that this little vignette has been my return to the hobby after many years of absence (and of acquiring models). In my shelves there are more vacuforms of rare aeroplanes that I will be taking out. I think that vacuforms are still an opportunity to make a good model when there is no other option in resin or plastic.
The figures took me longer than the plane, but I had fun doing the transformations. I think the 1:72 scale deserves more consideration. It is an excellent way, and just as valid as any other scale, to surround the aeroplanes and try to convey an "atmosphere".
I have other ideas for scenes (e.g. Guynemer's Spad VII on the Place des Invalides in Paris) which I will try to develop. The downside is that they take quite a long time to make.

Again, thank you and Best Regards,
Santiago

Santiago,
This is just wonderful work on every level, and yes, those of us working in 1/72nd do have to struggle to find quality figures. There are some out there, but the struggle is real.

Bravo on this diorama sir!

You are right. There is a set devoted to jägers on bike. I've transformed  one. The bike is improved with a photo etched  set from Brengun

Santiago, I totally agree with all you said. It's exciting to see such ingenious pieces and it makes me wonder what I could achieve - aspirational stuff!
