Wingnut Wings 1:32 SE.5a APF Rhys Davids 56 Sqn.
« on: April 19, 2022, 12:06:21 PM »
I finally completed this one about one week ago. It was a long process to complete the Build but here she is.
     I'll start with the final photo from the Build Log (as fractured as it was) from the Under Construction board;

Several of the additions made are shown here; the vent lines on the upper wing tank, a few extra bits on the Lewis Gun Mount and the cable from the gun ultimately to the trigger on the joy stick.

This model is not an easy rigging job; the cabane area was a particular challenge.

...... and the Flight Control cables are also time consuming.

I kept weathering to a subdued level; some mud splattering on the under surfaces, a little chipping on the forward areas, and some dust on the wheels, and that was enough!

...... and that about wraps her up. A very nice Kit, one of their best, and a nice addition to the collection.
Cheers,
Lance

Superb work Lance and I love the discreet weathering and your added small details which really bring this kit alive.

Really impressive work on the rigging too- this one's a real gem.

Lance, you've done a superb job on your SE.5a and I have to say the details are exquisite. I've learned a lot from your modelling skills and continue to be impressed by your models. So looking forward to seeing this in person at the next show we attend together (fingers crossed!)
Congrats on a superb build.

And thanks for the comments on my Albatros B.II. I appreciate that.

Best regards,
Gary

I really Love your SE Lance! Beautifully rigged, painted, and detailed. I also gained a better feeling about My Old build after our PM discussion and I realized I hadn't screwed up with the wing roundels  8) Your build has certainly been inspiring to say the least!

That is a first class model in every way Lance. You may have written a fractured build log but it does not show i any way in the finished model. Everything about hits model shouts real quality - especially those vent lines on the fuel tank which look as they were part of the kit. That is a model to be truly proud of.

Stephen.

Thank you all for your very kind comments, means a lot as I'm finding, despite my efforts, that age is starting to show it's effects in my results! Such is life I suppose, but this vastly beats the alternative!!

Great to see this one completed. This model has indeed a few of fine touches, like the replaced piping on the top wing centre. Congratulations, Lance.
