That's a gun ring on the back, cannot believe I did not notice that. My last guess is a Knoller C.1 and if I am wrong I give up and hope someone else gets it. Would be interested to see where on Google the plans are once it is guessed

Hi all and thanks for the indentifications and educated guesses... I personally knew next to nothing about these A-H types before starting to build them :)

The mystery plane is actually an Aviatik B.III  (33 series). The B.II (32 series) was a good aircraft for 1915-16, but the improved B.III (33 series) was modified and altered mostly in wrong directions. It was not nearly as good airplane as its predecessor, but got some use on the eastern front. It wasnīt very popular because of its swaying in level flight. Aviatik went back to B.II after this, with the 34 series and it was much better than either of the earlier types, especially B.III. It is a rare beast and I couldnīt find too much info on it in the net or otherwise. But thereīs a good (but unsharp) three view in the net, a few photos and profiles so I took it as a challenge...

cheers, Skyhook

Cheers Skyhook
I would not have guessed it was an Aviatic because of the angular tail, I assumed the rear tail on all Aviatics were very rounded. I rail roaded my brain into a Knoller because although the well known C.II looks nothing like it I do know earlier ones looked different and were more angular and at least one of them was known to have poor handling characteristics. Thanks for the plans too, I doubt very much I would build one any time soon but an interesting subject to keep in mind. A project I do have on the shortlist is another A.H.E aircraft just as obscure and I will probably copy you on that one and do it as a quiz.

Hi!

That would be really cool! The A-H aircraft are very interesting subjects... nice color schemes and especially the two seaters are often very beautiful in an archaic way. My reason for going for the lot was that I noticed that A-H subjects were very seriously under-represented in my collection. Not anymore. I think I will do a similar update regarding the Italian subjects later this year...

cheers, Skyhook
