Special Hobby Grand Giveaway - 1/48 SH Phonix D.1
« on: April 02, 2022, 11:39:50 PM »
Hi gents!
I received my pizes a couple of weeks ago and I want to thank again Special Hobby, CMK and above all Dave, the perfect host of this wonderful forum!

I put the CMK razor saw and sanding stick already in action on the kit and I have to say that these are wonderful procucts! I never used a sanding stick before and I discovered with pleasure how useful it can be.

I don't have building pictures yet, but I'll tease you with the unboxing of my win!

thank you again!

ciao
edo

This is a pretty good kit, Edo -

Just take time aligning the engine inside the fuselage otherwise when the exhausts are fitted, they can interfere with the fit of the cabane struts.

Looking forward to see how you get on with this one

That is a nice kit! I have build it in the K.u.K Kriegsmarine version.

Cheers,

I hope you enjoy your build Edo.

This is my build of the Special Hobby Phonix D.1 and it was a fun project.

I'm sure the kit will give you hours of modelling enjoyment.

Hi all!
I have started to build the engine which will barely be visible, but I decided of adding some detail hoping to enhance it a bit. Don't know if the result is worth the effort, but it was fun nevertheless...
Also the cockpit is underway and I find the PE parts to be really good...
here are some pics, hope you'll enjoy!

Hi all!
just a little update... I painted the upper wing in a mottled camouflage. Maybe I left it too bright and the dark brown speckle should have been more, but I like the effect and this make it easier to weather too...

As you see I moved the aerlions a bit, but looking on ref pictures I haven't found the way they were activated... in some pics there semms to be a control horn and the control wire, but not in all as far as I can see... do you have a better understanding?

In the meanwile I 3d printed the air speed meter that is seen in some reference pictures, maybe it is a little too big but I don't know... what do you think?

ah! and, yes I painted also the propeller...

ciao
Edo

Nice progress. Hard to judge if the 3D part is too big without a reference to the rest of the model - but it looks really good!!
