Resurrecting an old project: Junkers CL.I

Hello Everyone,
I haven't been building much in the way of WWI aircraft of late. While searching for some stuff
in my stash I discovered this Pegasus Junkers CL.I I had started about five years ago.



I've added a mostly scratch built interior and an engine from spare Roden parts. One thing I can say about this kit is
it was very rough and a lot of the fine corrugation is lost in cleaning up the seams. I'll try to re-scribe some and hide
other areas with weathering.



This is an aircraft I would love to see in 1/48th scale. I realize there is not a lot of information available on the type compared to it's
stablemate, the Junkers D.I.

Stay tuned as I hope to bring this one to completion.

Great to see another one fighting a Pegtasus model. I am about to finish mine after 6 years. So 5 years is a good mean value.

Thanks Wolf, I've been keeping up with your LVG build. It's a bit of an inspiration.

Thanks Stephen. I really had to carve this one out of a very rough molding with very thick trailing edges.

Good luck with it.  I have a couple of them and from a purely fondling plastic point of view, they seemed to be some of Pegasus' better efforts.  I was contemplating doing something without rigging once my shelf of doom is cleared (3 or 4 to go) and was staring this kit straight in the face.  I will have to rethink now, but I will be following your progress with great interest.

I've not had the pleasure but Kevin your photos show a pretty nice little kit.

I'm only really familiar with the type through photos and video I've seen of the lookalike replicas that fly in the UK with the Great War Display team. As a result I made an own-design balsa chuck glider which flew pretty well! One of those machines that seems like it would be a fun and practical (passenger seat!!) 1/1 project.

Thanks everyone for showing interest in this build.
I've made the landing gear using my dwindling supply of "Strutz".



Lately, I've been building a few 1/72 Airfix Battle of Britain aircraft. I was surprised that there
was not much of a deference in size between the Boulton-Paul Defiant and the Junkers CL.I.



I should have the Junkers on it's gear for my next post. Until then Happy Modeling!

Fantastic update Kevin! That's great to see.

Seeing it posed with the Defiant shows how wrong I was about how big I thought the CL.I was - the Great War Display Team's replicas, converted from the Bowers Fly-Baby, are much smaller!
