Ford Model T 1911 Touring - ICM 1/24
« on: January 05, 2022, 02:33:04 AM »
Hello everyone,

for those who are interested in older cars I would like to show my latest model, a Ford Model T from 1911 - Touring. The 1/24 kit is from ICM.

The kit was a christmas present in 2020 from my little daughter (at that time she was 9 years old and I was very touched). I made the promise to complete the kit before the following christmas and here is the result. The build took approximately 3 months, but I'm a slow builder. A very basic building log (German, sorry) can be found here: https://community.revell.de/viewtopic.php?t=8890.

Some pictures with light backround, some with dark backround, so the details pop out a little better.

Rafael,

A very nice model that brings back a memory for me:

I had the opportunity to drive a 1913 T touring in 2015 or so.  A friend of the owner of the company I worked for drove one over to our shop.  I was asking him questions such as if the acetylene lamps still worked (they did) and if the belts were still leather (they weren't).  Seeing my enthusiasm for the car, he asked if I'd like to take it for a spin around the cul de sac.  Oh hell yes!  I had driven my grandfather's 1930 something John Deere B and 1952 John Deere A as a kid, so how hard could it be?  Turns out, about the same, except adding the spark advance.  The best way to describe it would be it was like driving an underpowered cheap go cart lifted on wagon wheels with all the controls backwards and only mere suggestions for brakes.  The sense of speed sitting that high up is multiplied a great deal more than one would think.  We were buzzing around under 20mph and if felt like 120.  I loved it!

Rafael, I'm so glad you decided to post this build. It's beautiful! The attention to detail is exquisite! What did your daughter think?

Hi Rafael
I too am really glad you posted this. It is of course superb but the standout thing for me is the paintwork. Matt black roof, satin black leather and gloss black running boards and wheel guards. The blue gloss finish on the body is awesome. I myself struggle with brass, gold and bronze but on your Model T it is flawless.

Thank you all for your kind words!  :)

Some time ago I made a wishlist in amazon, which I already had forgotten. My wife and my daughter found it and my daughter decided for the car with the gold bling-bling. So, I was really surprised. Now my daughter is 10 years old, and she really likes the finished car. However, she would have prefered a pink car. And that is totally OK  ;D

@Stuart: I really envy you because of your experience with the real Ford T  :-[

Best Regards
Rafael

Perhaps you could buy and build another and finish it as a birthday gift for her?  ;)

Rafael -

I nearly missed this one.   Your model T Ford is stunning so I'm glad I caught up with it now.
