1/72 Roden SE5A
« on: January 01, 2022, 06:48:43 AM »
This project should have been completed 6 months ago but i did not want to rig it. I finally did and it took forever.  I enjoyed this kit even though there was a bit of adjusting and sanding. I followed wingnut instructions for painting. Tamiya paints were used. Pheon decals depicting plane flown by Capt. W.G.Claxton in August 1918.  Rigging was .004 stainless steel wire.

Next time I will make rigging attachment points before assembly. The green was a little dark for my liking but that is what sometimes happens when you mix paint.

I have not built a Se5A for about 50 years. This was a good learning experience. The Revell kit was good for it's day but the Roden kit looks nice when finished.

Lovely SE5A! All of the WWI British types are rigging challenges.

Excellent job with a really good paint finish.

I've built these little Roden SE5's and actually think they are a pretty decent kit in this scale.

Super model. Rigging with wire is so much easier than using thread in this scale. The Se 5 was a good looking aeroplane and yours does it real justice.

Beautiful work! At first I thought it was a larger-scale model.

Quite the overlooked kit.  While the Rodens aren't the easiest of builds, they do have pretty decent detail and can be made into lovely models.  Nice job.

Thanks for the nice comments. Next is a Roden Albatros D.V.  I will build another SE5a in the future but it may be a while.
