Eduard 1/48 Sopwith Camel
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:40:03 AM »
Hey everyone, thanks to the recent contest at Swannys.  I am now building my third model in two months. I am on a roll, keep them coming. I know it is not a German subject, at least it is a plane. I am broadening my horizons. Here are a few photos of the build so far. I will keep posting the pictures as I continue.

Thanks

Hello Angry and welcome to the forum. You are progressing quite nicely with the Camel, your wood looks very good and the seat, fuel tank and belts are excellent, looking forward to your next update.

Hi AG, welcome to the forum.
Doesn't matter if it isn't German mate, as long as it's a WW1 stringbag!!
Nice progress on your Camel so far, keep it up ;)

Hey everyone, I have been slammed at work. I haven't even had a chance to look at the model. Figures, just when I get on a roll, work comes along. The only good news, maybe I can make some $$$ to buy more models. Hopefully, sometime within the next couple of weeks I will post more photos.
Thanks, the Angry Greek >:(

Hi,

good work so far. I finished this model at the end of Sep 2012 and the lessons learned are:

1) Dryfit everything as the fit, while not bad is far from excellent. Pay special attention to fitting the interior in the fuselage while you close the fuselage's halves.
2) there are some issues with the struts and according to several different build review over the net the instructions are wrong. I cut the small plastic pins on the struts, that should enter the wings and replaced them with wonger ones, made from wire (made deeper holes in the wings also) and met no problems there.

good luck with the build

Lovely shading on the fuselage, the colour looks great, the wings also look excellent, this is going to be a very nice model.

Hi Angry,
I was wondering how the Camel is coming along.  I am particularly interested
as I have the same one in my stash.  I really like the painting.  Could you
expand a bit on what colours you used, techniques, etc.  Your wood painting is
first rate, as well.  Thanks for sharing with us.
