Revell 1/32 Duo Discus completed
« on: November 28, 2021, 06:46:33 AM »
I've been working on this for a group build on another site.  As some of you know, I am also a fan of sailplanes and have a collection of models of them.
Here, I am completing the third of three 1/32 Revell kits of sailplanes originally made from 2006 - 2009 (Duo Discus, LS-8, and the ASK-21).
I am also including pilot figures for an in-flight depiction.  These are figures from Immense Miniatures, which makes slot car accessories.  I need to re-pose them, of course, as its almost impossible to find civilian pilot figures in 1/32 scale in decent detail.

I should be closing the fuselage soon.

I've been following this build at LSP and I absolutely love how the figures turned out. They look fantastic!

I'd never really considered buying a kit of a sailplane until the Revell GB over there. They do some very neat models!

This completes my hat trick of Revell 1/32 sailplanes, all in Swiss livery.  The fit of this kit was excellent and the decals went down well.  I used Immense Miniatures figures that I reposed to fit.

Really brilliant work, Ken. And the display of all three is very nice indeed.

Very beautiful and elegant, thanks for showing!
Ken, do you have a license to fly the real ones?

Cheers,
Frank
Wikipedia says: A model is a simplified representation of reality.
So I create downscaled originals.

Thanks for commenting WD and Frank.
Unfortunately, I have never flown in a sailplane as a pilot or passenger.  My interest comes from flying radio controlled versions, which I enjoyed very much.  Every flight is different and a challenge to stay aloft, unlike powered aircraft where you just point and shoot.
