1/72 Hansa-Brandenburg W.12
« on: November 25, 2021, 12:27:46 PM »
Here's a kitbash using the Wings 72 HB W.12 vac (wings, tail) and a modified Pegasus HB W.29 injected kit (fuselage, floats). Not much rigging, but lots of struts!

Cheers
Herb

Terrific!  Was that the manufacturer that gave options for a W 12 kit with a long fuselage and a different kit with a short fuselage?

Beautiful work, Herb, and a stunning result if I may say so! The Naval Lozenge is really striking, too.

Cheers,
Mark

Very interesting! W.12 in 72nd scale! And in my favourite 1414 livery! Nicely done, thanks for sharing.

Hard to believe that is not only 1/72, but also a kit-bash of parts from 2 different kits!

Hi Rick,

Yeah, I think they offered kits with both lengths, of course I wound up modifying the Pegasus W.29 fuselage into the short version anyway.

Besides fuselage length, there were many other little variations with the W.12. The Windsock datafile was really helpful in that regard...

That is a very nice model, at the first sight it could also be a bigger scale! Well done!

iI agree with Frank - that looks to be a much bigger scale model. Wonderful conversion and a superb finish.

What was the source of the naval hexagons?

Stephen.

What a little beauty! She definitely looks a larger scale than 1/72.

The Naval Lozenge is really striking, too.
Honestly, the top-down shot had me a bit mesmerised. That's what I'd call Dazzle Camouflage!!

Stephen, the Wings 72 vacform kit actually came with the very nice lozenge decals. They inspired me to keep going on the project, as I knew they would effectively draw the eye away from any construction faults...!

Herb,

Biplanes on floats are my favorite.  Yours is magnificent!  I will have to scrounge around and see if I have both of these kits and put them in a box labeled HB W.12 as a future project.
